For convenience, The Breathless Moon offers the full installation software files of The Personal Ancestral File v4.0.4 (PAFSETUP.EXE) and The Brother's Keeper v5.2g (BKSETUP.EXE). You may wish to visit their official websites to either download these installation software files directly from there or to learn more about the programs. You can find out more about The Personal Ancestral File program at http://www.familysearch.org or more about The Brother's Keeper program at its official website at http://www.bkwin.net. Please keep in mind that these software files only INSTALL the working version of The Personal Ancestral File and/or The Brother's Keeper program on your computer. They ARE NOT ready to use programs as offered nor do they contain any family information.
To start with, you have two (2) methods of downloading these installation software files directly from this site. Method 1 offers the full installation software files for both programs as one downloadable "ready to run" file which will install the program of your choice. Method 2 offers the same full installation software files as Method 1, but the installation software files are broken down into smaller (1.44 MB) parts. With Method 2, you must download all parts.
If you have the time and do not mind the wait, you might choose Method 1 and download the entire installation software file at one time. If you prefer, choosing Method 2 will enable you to download the full installation software file in smaller parts over several online sessions. This not only saves times during any given session, but will allow you to copy each part to a floppy disk for later use. You will need on blank, formatted floppy disk for each part.
Downloading is easy using either method. Simply point to the desired floppy disk icon for the method you have chosen and left-click on it. When prompted, select SAVE TO DISK (as opposed to OPEN THE FILE). Choose a folder on your computer to save the file to and continue. If you selected Method 1, you are ready to install the program of your choice right away after the file has finished downloading. If you chose Method 2, repeat this downloading process until you have downloaded all parts - making sure you save all parts to the same folder.
If you selected Method 2, you need to make sure you have successfully downloaded all parts of the archive. The Personal Ancestral File has five (5) parts while The Brother's Keeper program has only two (2) parts. The files (or parts) you need for either or both programs are listed as follows:
The Personal Ancestral File:

The Brother's Keeper File:
BROKEEPR.EXE BROKEEPR.R00
Once you have downloaded all the parts, execute the main EXE file as listed above for the program files you downloaded - PAF404.EXE for The Personal Ancestral File program or BROKEEPR.EXE for The Brother's Keeper program. The extraction program takes only a few seconds to complete and will assemble the full, complete installation program.
At this point, I highly recommend that you copy these parts to blank, formatted floppy disks. You will need one (1) disk for each part of the archive. This gives you a backup copy of the parts of the program for later use or to share with friends or family. Once you have gotten this far and have the full, complete installation program, you can safely delete the parts you have downloaded.
Finally, all you need to do is just execute the installation program (either PAFSETUP.EXE or BKSETUP.EXE) and follow the prompts during the installation process. Voila! Enjoy! From here on, you can create your own family history database or import a datafile of an existing family history database.
