Was a schoolteacher in Richardson County (Randolph County???), btwn Winston/Salem andWas supposedly in the War of Northern Aggression (from his POV). Suffered a chest injury (leg injury?) when an ammo wagon he was hauling crashed through a bridge, pinning him in the mud underneath. Took better part of a year to recover; by then war was over. Didn't talk about that part much; may be listed as deserter.

"Well, Elizabeth,a year from now I'll be with you." and he was... Alma Launder overheard the comment at Elizabeth's funeral when she was a young girl.Obit: Jacob W. Sell departed this life February 9, 1911 after an illness of many weeks. During the intense suffering he was cheerful and patient, waiting only 'till the summons should come: "thy work on Earth is done, come home to rest." He was born indavidson County, North Carolina, October 2nd 1832 and was at the time of his death 78 years, 4 months, and 7 days. His faithful wife Elizabeth Sell preceded him to that long resting place one year and two days. He came to Kansas in November of 1876.
He was a member in good standing of Roy's Creek, Baptist Church since 1880 and lived a consistent Christian life, until the master called him to come up higher. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for they have ceased their labor." He leaves to mourn the loss two sons, Francis and Pete Sell, and one daughter, Mrs. Lee, all residing in the vicinity of White Cloud.
Reverend John Easterbrook preached the funeral sermon at the late home, Friday at 11 a.m., after which his body was laid to rest in Olive Branch Cemetery to await the Resurrection morn.
