The Leprosy Mission raised our awareness of the needs of millions of people around the world who have leprosy.

It is good to know of the progress being made and how people can be rehabilitated from the effects of this crippling disease.

The Council for Christian Education in schools has also been a focus for us. As a people we are greatly concerned for the wellbeing of all children and especially so for their spiritual welfare. Pray for those who lead in spiritual ways in our nations schools. Pray particularly for Albion Primary School and our own coordinator. Pray too for Dinjerra Primary school children.

Praise God for the great meeting we had in October when we were informed by Jeff Weston and Jack Edwards about the work of our missionaries and church leaders overseas and how we work together and support each other to proclaim the Gospel.

The photograph shows Christian leaders at Maidstone Family Church for the cleansing of the land service earlier this year.
PEACE CONCERNS
Pray for the people of East Timor and for our own Australian politicians and public servants who help formulate policy. Pray that the concerns and the welfare of people will overule business matters.

Pray for the people in Darwin especially our Aboriginal people and the spiritual leaders of churches in the Northern Territory.

Pray for the people who suffer persecution at the hands of people intent on gaining or maintaining power for their own ends. Much is suffered - especially by Christians. This century has seen more martyrs for the faith than all of the previous 1900 years since Jesus came as the Prince of Peace. He is peace to us in a way the world only hopes for but can never gain by violent means.

Pray for the International Day of prayer for the persecuted church throughout the world. Even here in Australia Christians are persecuted for their faith although, thankfully, it is not organised or condoned by our government. Pray for our missionaries and church leaders.

The photograph shows some Christian leaders at Darwin Nungalinya College earlier this year. There are many wonderful Aboriginal Christian leaders and it would have been great if i had more photographs to share with you.
PEACE PROCESSES
Pray for our own local work and outreach that it may continue.

Our focus on Sunday evening 17 October 1999 AD was on the leaders of the churches world wide. Our guest speaker was Kerrie Handasyde from Coldstream, Melbourne who attended as a youth delegate at last year's World Council of Churches gathering in Africa.

The photograph shows a small historic church in Taita New Zealand.
