58 km away from Beirut,Anjar was a big trade center in history. This city
was constructed by the caliph Walid I ibn in 715. it's the only site in
Lebanon from the ommayades. It was ruined in 744 by Marwan II in a battle
for power. Anjar became a visited site in 1950.
