Why Bilingual Education is important to me?
Bilingual Education is a program that involves two languages. The purpose of this program is to teach foreigners to learn a new language by using two languages equally. Nowadays in our society, Bilingual Education has become a very important educational method. It is a combination way of teaching. I have received a lot of benefits from this program. Bilingual education is very important to me.

There are many advantages to Bilingual Education. This particular program is very useful for foreigners to learn a new language. It helps foreigners understand the class and get the right concept. Bilingual Education not only helps foreigners learn a new language quickly, but also maintains their own languages. Bilingual Education also benefits your future. The United States is a society that contains great competition. If you don't have any special skill, you won't be able to survive. For the people who are in the Bilingual Education, you know more than one language, that means your are superior than others. You'll get more opportunities than others. If you are looking for a job, of course you will have a higher position than others. With the two languages, you also can to communicate with other people. Your relationship with other people definitely will improve.

Bilingual Education is welcome by all the foreigners, especially me. As an immigrant, Bilingual Education has provided great assistance for me. I remember when I first came here, I had no ideas about English because English was totally different from Chinese. I attended a small school in a suburb area of Ohio. There was no Bilingual program available. Also, I was the only one Chinese student in the whole school. When the lesson was being taught, I didn't understand anything. I acted like a fool in the class and saw unfamiliar faces every day. I felt helpless and anxious. "How could I learn this new language?" I asked myself many times. With all those difficulties, nobody could help. I spoke to my father about my situation. Four months later, our family moved to Chinatown, New York, and my father helped me transfer to a new school, I.S.131. My new way of school life began.

I was a new immigrant, so the school board put me into the bilingual program. In the bilingual class, I received a lot of additional assistance. All the teachers treated me with patience. I thought that's because they knew I was a foreigner. I felt more comfortable because I was able to communicate with other people. I also felt less intimated because I was amongst all the familiar faces. In the bilingual class, my work is twice as demanding as in regular class. Besides learning English, I still have to learn Chinese. Day after day, my English has improved, I know how to use grammar and write English correctly. I realized that English is not so hard.

As I said before, Bilingual Education not only helps me succeed in my academic studies, but also benefits my future. Bilingual Education is like my elementary teacher, it encourage me to face challenges. After receiving a bilingual education, I am not afraid of learning English. Bilingual Education has become a very important part in my life. Also, I feel proud because I am a bilingual student. I know two languages.
