Europe Page II

After High School, I decided that the best route was to join the military and go off to see Europe as an adult. During my military years oversea I got lost in Europe for 6 years, three of them I spent as a civilian. I fell in and out of love there. Sad how these things change our lives, I guess it's the journey and not where you end up.

This was my home for 6 years. I traveled all through Europe, but I would always come home here. I had a job at Joann Goeth University my last year in Germany where I would take a train ride across this bridge every morning. It reminded me of my home by the ocean in California. The Wurzburg Castle is south of Frankfurt. Its huge with many exhibits all through the Castle. Many of my friends and I would go there to visit.
When I first arrived 1989, I met up with an Italian Girl who I met in San Diego. I was attracted to her but quickly realized that a long distance relationship does not work. She took me all through Rome, Italy on a quick extensive 3-day tour. We feasted on incredible authentic Italian dinners and she made me drive in Rome. They let us sleep in a villa near the ocean to the west of Rome. In 1991 some military friends of mine decided they wanted to celebrate New Years in Amsterdam. We arrived to find no hotels available. We found one 30 hour outside of town. That evening we partied a lot and became tired, so we returned to our hotel for a short break. Well, the next thing we knew is that New Years had come and gone. So, we returned to town an opened a bottle to celebrate.
The beer in Germany was great! We went to many different trips to beer drinking festivals. I lost two teeth in Germany around one of these saloons. On this trips we were visiting the Bavaria area of Germany, its rich with culture and beauty. It is near Austria and Switzerland, so you can imagine how beautiful the mountains were during our trip. This is the real Disney Castle that Disney copied to make "it's a small world after all". Schloss Neuschwanstein.
