The Citicorp Center is most famous for its 45 degree roof and its ten story stilts. Standing at 914 ft (279 m) and 59 stories high, this skyscraper is easily recognizable on the New York City skyline. It was designed by Hugh Stubbins and was completed in 1978. Its unusual base was designed to incorporate the nearby St. Peter's Church. Although its slanting top was intended to function as a solar collecter, it never happened. The Citicorp Center has a spacious atrium and a shopping mall.
