Rhine River,
Heidelberg |
|
Before Heidelberg we
went for a cruise on the Rhine River. Very beautiful scenery with castles high up
overlooking the river. This region is famous for their wines too. |
|
Look at this beautiful
ruin of a castle on the side of the valley overlooking a village on the banks of the
Rhine. It was cold and overcast but clear on the river. |
|
Ferries are a form of
transport and recreation on the Rhine. We went for a cruise for a fair way up and down the
river. |

Heidelberg
(Germany), city in south-western Germany, in Baden-Württemberg, on the Neckar River, near
Mannheim. On the summit of
Jettenbühl (195 m/640 ft), which dominates the eastern portion of the city, is Heidelberg
Castle (mainly 14th-17th century), one of the most impressive historic landmarks of
Germany. |
|
There are
cobble stoned streets weaving this place of history. Check out the maypole in the square beyond and what
looks like an aqueduct up on the hill. |

This is a statue with
the old castle in the background. |
