WORKING EXPERIENCE:

4/98-present: Database Administrator and UNIX System administrator in the IT Department of Initial Staffing

Responsibilities:

(A) Oracle database maintenance:

(1) Perform backup and recovery, schema management and database security;

(2) Monitor and tune up Oracle database using various tools and utilities such as SQL tuning facility, the data dictionary views, the dynamic performance tables, Export/Import, Utlbstat/Utlestat, etc.;

(3) Upgrade and install Oracle database servers, set up and refresh database instances;

(4) Install Oracle application Version 10.7 with NCA by using Auto Install, Work with develop team to setup finanical database; and

(5) Develop and maintain scripts for monitoring database activities.

(B) UNIX system maintenance:

(1) Perform system setup, backup, and recovery tasks, OS upgrading, kernel configuration; and

(2) Monitor and tune up UNIX system using various tools and utilities such as Glance, Top, Sar, Vmstat, Swapinfo, Sam, Smit, etc.

(B) Supported, maintained, and developed the clinical database applications using Oracle/Developer 2000.

(C) UNIX system maintenance including network file system setup, OS upgrading, backup and recovery, and software installation.

7/91-10/96: System administrator and Programmer for M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas

Responsibilities:

(A) Developed RT-PACS, 3D-treatment Planning, and image converting, using C, C++, Oracle/SQL, Pro C, X-Window, GUI on Sun workstation.

(B) Installed Oracle database Version 6.2, managed database schema (such as table design, table creation, object validation), and performed backup and recovery, database security, monitoring, and tuning up for Oracle databases.

(C) Set up, installed, and upgraded Sun OS Solaris on Sun Workstations and installed many software on Sun and VAX(such as Perl, SunVision, GUI, Gun, etc.) Set up the yellow page on the Sun Workstation for the group. Built sharing file system for clinic usage. Wrote the script to monitor the disk performance using Perl language.
