#4 Training Begins - 12/13

I'll be adding forced linefeeds at the end of each line so some of you will no longer get messages on one L O N G line.

I'm about as far south as I could drive in the U.S., arriving at the Youth Hostel in much warmer San Diego. The morning low equals the best after- noon high in Seattle. It gets light at 6:30am and dark very quickly (15 min) after the 4:45pm sunset.

Today, I, or rather the local bike shop, finished changing the gearing on the official Raleigh Global 2000. I can't deal with these new fangle STI click shifters (I've been using barends for 17 years). I had a hard time getting any bike computer to work properly because the official Raleigh Global 2000 is made of aluminum ... L A R G E tubed aluminum. Tomorrow, I'll go back to the local bike shop for one last computer part, then I'll have no excuse for not training.

Of course, before I've ridden one mile, I'm planning my "rest" days, including visiting the San Diego Zoo. I'm also thinking of different ways to pack/send back too many "necessities." I won't believe I'm doing a year-long bike ride until sometime "down the road."

Happy Trails,
Bruce
