#60 - Merry Christmas; December 24, 2000

Mele Kalikimaka and Hau'oli Makahiki Hou - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Hawai'i. I've ridden my bicycle over 14,000 miles, climbed half a million feet, and seen more of the world in the past year than most of the world ever sees. Now I'm taking a Christmas break in Kona. The bikes are on their way to Maui where some of us will attempt to ride 109 miles climbing 12,000ft to Haleakala. Another day in Honolulu, then it's on to San Diego and our final two riding days of Odyssey2000. Again, we'll be riding in front of the Rose Parade so we'll be off before the television coverage starts just like last year. Many of us will be wearing a well earned Finisher's Jersey. It just won't be in the smaller size we envisioned wearing after a year of bicycling.

May this holiday season bring out the joy that is already within you and all that other psychobabble mush. I wish each of you the best and may 2001 be the best year of your life.
