BREWERY MAKES GREEN BEER FOR WILDLIFE CONFERENCE!

In a collaboration with the Cheshire Region Biodiversity Partnership, Beartown Brewery of Congleton released a special brew at the nature conservation conference, ‘Tomorrow’s World for Local Wildlife’ at Astra Zeneca’s Alderley Edge site on 21st October. The beer, which celebrated a new process of conserving nature, Biodiversity Action Planning (BAP) was called ‘BAP on Tap’ and was enjoyed by delegates of the conference, after official business has been taken care of.

Beartown Brewery, founded in 1994, is a South Cheshire craft brewery, producing a range of quality and distinctive cask conditioned real ales. Their beers are available at the Brewery Tap in Congleton, a popular hangout for members of CAMRA. Beartown beers have won awards in many CAMRA festivals and have competed in the prestigious CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain competition.

‘Tomorrow’s World for local wildlife’, held within the grounds of Alderley Park, Alderley Edge, was a first for nature conservation in the Cheshire region. It was the first time that everyone involved in Biodiversity Action Planning (BAP) in Cheshire has been given the opportunity to meet under the same roof to explore common ways forward and share best experiences.

The aims of the conference were to fuse technology with people, nature and biodiversity to make the best use of wildlife records and raise and develop awareness of the biodiversity planning process. Speakers attended from all over the country from organisations such as English Nature, Environment Agency, the Department of Transport Environment and the regions (DETR), local authorities and many local practitioners including the Cheshire Wildlife Trust to offer their perspectives on the BAP process from a national, regional and local angle.

BEARTOWN LATEST

The latest new brew from Beartown is Bruin’s Ruin, a light bitter (not as light as Kodiak Gold), which has the trademark Beartown bitter edge, but a smooth finish.
