JULY 29 Thursday ~ JULY 30 Friday

VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE

Today you will depart by private charter with Proflight from Lukuzi to Livingstone. On arrival you will be met by a representative from Wilderness Safaris who will transfer you by vehicle across the border into Zimbabwe and to the Llala Lodge, about a 1 hour drive.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Falls and adjacent rain forest, as well as the curio shops in town. It also has a lovely pool and good restaurant. You will be here for one night on a bed and breakfast basis.

Many additional activities are offered from Victoria Falls. You can take a sundowner boat cruise on the Zambezi, a Flight of the Angels over Victoria Falls in a microlite, helicopter or light aircraft, white water raft the Class IV and V rapids of the Zambezi (the best one day white water rafting trip in the world - definitely for the serious adventurer!).

Victoria Falls, even a breathtaking site during the dry season.  The town of Victoria Falls sucks, your typical tourist trap, could have been Niagara Falls, NY or Seaside, OR for that matter, except is was Africa and you did get hassled by the money changers right in front of the police station.  At least we were only there for a very short time.  We did manage to get up at 5.30am and be at the falls entrance by 6.00am, only to beat the guards who open the place by 10  minutes.  We spent a beautiful early morning walking the falls, alone in the park, witnessing a magnificent African sunrise over Victoria Falls.

Waiting for the guards to open up.  Why are Myah's shoe laces never tied?

No real guard rails on this overhanging cliff.

Great sign.  Couldn't resist. Don't mind if we do.

Dr. Livingstone, I presume.
