PORTLAND TRACTION

ETT # 7, 03/16/56

PORTLAND RR AND TERMINAL DIV. PTT 09/17/56 REVISED TO 10/21/57

This is the oldest Electric Interurban line in the United States at the time it was built in 1893 between Portland and Oregon City. It lasted until 1958, when they discontinued passenger service. The line to Bellrose is part of the Springwater Hiking Trail, Portland's first linear park. East Portland Traction company still operates 5 miles of line from Portland-Golf Junction, and Union Pacific still operates the Oregon City-Canemah portion for freight. The rest of this vast system is gone.
