Ocean Culture a collection of South African Rock by MR Carte 1 Feb '99

Imagine my surprise to find Ocean Culture in the Ladysmith branch of Musica. Imagine my surprise. I mean, I have never seen this Disc before, not in any of my friends CD collections, not in a store, and certainly not advertised on TV or Radio. How does an excellent disc like this go past without the media raving about it?

If this disc was released in '97, as stated on the label, then I wish I had heard about it, seen it, and bought it then. OK, I have been busy. But not that busy. Since 1997 I have bought more than 20 discs, not a lot, but I thought there was a drought in the music world. There just wasn't anything decent being released. Now, if I had seen this disc, I would have opened my ears to what was going down in the South African scene.

Half the songs on Ocean Culture, I have heard on the radio, but I always assumed that they were from overseas. I generally don't buy a disc because of one track on the radio. Why waste ninety bucks on one song that you will soon get sick of, when you can buy a disc like Ocean Culture for sixty five bucks.

If just amazes me where you find great music. But what amazes me more is the lack of publicity that a great disc like this should have had.

If you don't have Ocean Culture get it (there are still a few more copies in the Musica in Ladysmith)

	This is the CD to look out for, that is, if you missed it like I did.
	The bands in Ocean Culture have all released their own CDs, which may be worth checking out. I have the Just Ginger, Henry Ate, and the newer Springbok Nude Girls. Of course, they all have newer CDs out now, but still no sign of Ocean Culture 2.
