Presidential Mansion
The Presidential Mansion is also known as Chieh Shou Hall. It became
the President's office in 1950 when the late President Chiang Kai-Shek
resumed his duty here on Taiwan.
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall
Located in the 4th section of Jen-ai Road, Taipei, the stately hall
is a
five-story Chinese-and-Western combined style of architecture. The
total area is 12,052 ping (1.8 x 1.8 m).
Taipei City Hall
Situated in the heart of downtown Taipei, the hall was built in the
years of the reign of Emperor Kuanghsu (1875-1907) of the Ching
Dynasty.
Taiwan Provincial Museum
The museum is in the New Park of Taipei. Articles displayed in the
museum are specimens of mankind, animals, and plants.
Postal Museum
This new Postal Museum is situated in the Nanhai Cultural Center in
Taipei. It houses a large collection of specialized books and equipment,
postal history, and other things of interest to philately.
Gate Cheng En of Taipei
Gate Cheng En is also called North Gate. The circumference of Taipei
city wall was over 1,500 chang (roughly 5 km). Originally there were
five gates installed. Now only the North Gate keeps its original form.
Martyrs' Shrine
Martyrs' Shrine, located on Pai-an Road in Taipei, is dedicated to
the memory of the Republic's revolutionary martyrs. The main entrance
is a purple archway of towering magnificence.
Sungshan Airport in Taipei
Sungshan Airport was formerly an international airport. After the
completion of the Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport, it was
turned into domestic use. In front of the airport is a very beautiful
fountain, which sprays from various kinds of water poles.
National Museum of History
Situated in the Botanical Garden on Nanhai Road in Taipei, the museum
displays many ancient Chinese art treasures and paintings.
Lungshan (Dragon Mountain) Temple in Taipei
Built in the third year of the reign of Emperor Chienlung (1738) of
the
Ching Dynasty, the temple is dedicated to Kuan Yin, Goddess of
Mercy, a Buddhist divinity. It is regarded as the island's finest example
of a temple.
National Palace Museum
This world-renowned museum is located in the Shihlin district of Taipei.
It houses the world's largest and most priceless collection of Chinese
art treasures.
Chung Cheng (Chiang Kai-Shek) Memorial Hall
The maginficient hall is on Chung Shan South Road
in Taipei. It was built with funds contributed by
Chinese people at home and abroad. It was dedicated
on April 4, 1980.
