Mt. Success at Taichung
Mt. Success is a military training base located on Mt. Tatu at Wujih
village, Taichung county in Central Taiwan.
Taiwan Provincial Council at Wufeng
The council is located at Wufeng, Nantou county, about 14 miles
from Taichung city. Its meeting hall is architecture of the Roman style.
Techi Reservoir at Tungshih
The reservoir is located at the entrance of the precipitous Tachien
Gorge in the middle reaches of the Tachia River, about 90 km from
Taichung city. The double-curvature concrete arch is 180 meters
high, the highest of its kind in Asia.
Lishan House
Located about midway along East-West Cross-Island Highway, the
house, with its classical Chinese architecture, is one of the most
beautiful hotels in Taiwan.
Taichung Harbour at Wuchi
The harbour area extends from the southern bank on the Tachia
Stream in the north to the northern bank of Tatu Stream in the south.
It now has 27 deep-water wharves and is the only international port
in Central Taiwan.
Tiechanshan (Mt. Anvil) at Tachia
The mountain gets its name from its flat top. It is one of the historic
sites associated with Koxinga. On the mountain are various places
of sightseeing interest.
Giant Buddha on Mt.Pakua Changhua
The statue is 21.8 m tall, and rests on a lotus-shaped pedestal 4.2
m
high, the largest in Asia. In front of the statue are two stone lions
playing ball.
Confucius Temple at Changhua
The temple in central Taiwan was built in 1762. So far, it has been
renovated eight times. The existing hall, chamber, shrine, and gates
have a very grand scale.
Lungshan Temple at Lukang
With an area of some 1,600 ping (1.8 x 1.8 m), the temple was built
after the example of the famous Kaiyuan Temple of Chuan-chow,
Fukien Province.
Chunghsing Hall at Chunghsing village
The hall is situated at the central part of Chunghsing village. It
is one
of the main meeting places of the Taiwan Provincial Government.
Yushan National Park
Yushan National Park covers the central mountain area of Taiwan.
Rising 3,952 m above sea level, Yushan is the highest mountain in
northeast Asia. Yushan is noted for its rare and precious widelife
and relics preserved in the forests.
Wulin Farm
The farm is located on the Ilan branch of the East-
West Cross-Island Highway by the side of Chichia
Stream, the source of the Tachia River. Temperate
fruits and highland vegetables are planted on the farm.
