Our Backyard Retreat
|
This is a view of our backyard pond which is quite a bit smaller than the former pond. This one is about 165 gallons and the old one was 800 gallons. Rick had to cut down on the size and, at the same time, cut down on the work involved in the upkeep. This size pond is just right and keeps us busy enough.

A little more of our backyard. The gazebo is a great place to take a break from all of the work involved with the upkeep of the flowers and the pond. We have taken the backyard and transformed it into a haven for birds of all kinds. When we moved here, we did not even see a robin for the first couple of years. Now we have hundreds of birds that visit. We think that the water in the pond and the birdbaths attract as many, or more than the feeders do. Had a hard time attracting Hummingbirds this year and we think el-nino had something to do with it.

Dunn's River Falls
|
I know that it is the "touristy" thing to do but, if you ever visit Jamaica, make sure that you visit and climb Dunn's River Falls. The guides make it a great trip and believe it or not, you can trust them to carry your camera and to take great pictures.
