A quick trip to Chicago to get away for the weekend.  We stayed at the Chicago Hilton & Tower on Michigan Avenue.  On Saturday we toured the Chicago Field Museum and walked around the museum area.
Saturday night we went to Rush Street, which is a row of bars in the Division and Rush street area.   Having seen the streets closed off in this area on occasion with large crowds gathered in the street, I was somewhat surprised that the crowd was very well behaved and all of the streets were still open.  It was fun to watch the many creative costumes walking around.
Sunday was spent sleeping late, having a good brunch and then shopping at/near Watertower Place.
Here are a few photos from our trip.  Enjoy.

Mummy's the word

The Field Museum has a dozen or more mummies in their Egyptian display.  It was very interesting to see how the ancient undertakers prepared the bodies for their 'trip' to the other side.

Dangerous Cats

The movie "Ghost in the Darkness" depicted the story of two lions who killed over a hundred African railroad workers in the 1920's.  These are the two actual lions.  Actually these are the actual skins, which were in pretty bad shape when the Museum acquired them (thus they are smaller now, than they were in real life).

Shoreline

This is an interesting shot of the low cloud banks sweeping past the tops of some of the taller buildings on the lake front.

Another shot of the lakeshore from near the aquarium.
