Yo people!
This week no adventures to tell. Currently enjoying Global with guests - Billi Lim, Michelle Yeoh, Morten Frost, Gary Thompson and Sirivat. A friend asked me how I find the time to write these stories. I used to write every Monday morning when I'm at the office at 7.30am while surfing the net. Since getting my own email account at home, I decided to masquerade as Doogie Howser - sitting at his computer at the end of day to write the events that have meant something to him. So I write every Sunday night while watching TV. I need to do something else at the same time, if not, feel guilty spend time (sometimes I spend two hours writing!) on emailing.
[Paused for a conversation with a friend...]
Anyway, Saturday as usual when nothing to do - go bowling! Actually wanted to call up a hometown friend, Wen Szu to bowl but then I also wanted to do some shopping after that. So go bowling with Mom! I know she enjoys it as much as I do (although I still think it's a dumb game - I mean, rolling the ball to hit 10 pins...). Still the same score loh... 93 this time. My mom doing pretty well nowadays - 81! At first, she was ahead of me ... malulah saya... even the Malay girl at the next lane say - Wow... emak you lagi hebat! Kah kah kah...
Then shopping... aiya you know me lah - where got buy clothes one.... Instead was hunting for the dartboard that I mentioned last week! Got it, got it!! Now one part of the wooden cupboard in my room got a few "impressions" in it already ... mmm... need to get a flat softboard to protect from "unintentional" darts.
Today also pergi jalan-jalan (Shida, I pergi cari itu Hall & Oates punya album - tak ada jumpa punya? Mata saya something wrong kah...?). Wah... itu Titanic craze banyak teruk. Everywhere I look, Titanic posters lah.. Titanic postcards lah... Titanic t-shirts lah... Titanic song lah... My headache will go on....
Later in the afternoon checked out the sports complex in Seremban 2. Was a bit disappointed that the swimming pool is not ready yet. I'm literally "dying" to swim - I'm in unhealthy shape, jogging at night is not practical so my alternative is to swim I guess. There's badminton and squash there but I'm not so into badminton and I've never played squash before. I could go for our Samsung gym but then I'm not up to the dicipline.
After that, went to my friend's house in Ampangan. Bawak emak pergi bersama jumpa my longtime ex-primary schoolmate. Nisah, thanks so much for the hospitality! My mom and I enjoyed ourselves very much at your house! Most of our conversation was on two little kittens - "adopted" by Nisah's mom. I couldn't resist them myself, they were such lovable creatures. Nisah... even back at home, my mom keep saying - wah.. so nice your home...!
These week's song playing in my mind is still Savage Garden's Truly Madly Deeply (maklumlah since they are coming for concert here, the radion station been very nice promoting their songs) and a new one - Shania Twain's You're Still The One. Just downloaded the chords for this number so should be trying out on my guitar in just a moment.
Before wrapping up, a poem which I will copy below from a card, a close friend sent. It's just so nice I need to share it:
A friend is someone who....
Listens and tries to understand
(even when you're not making much sense!),
laughs with you, not at you,
(unless, of course, you do something really silly!),
encourages your crazy dreams,
makes ordinary days seem extraordinary
(or, at least, not so boring!),
picks you up when you're feeling down -
and cares, and shows it in so many ways....
To this friend of mine, you know, I read some Hallmark cards at Parkson - they were so nice but RM9 bucks man! Tell you what I'll do (yalah... you know I'm a cheapskate!)... the next time I go to that corner again, I'll get a paper and pen ready and copy all those wonderful friendship poems. Kiasu, huh?!
Regards,
