Entry: 4.9.1998
Hi people!
Was very caught up in work after the Merdeka holidays that I don't think I'll be able to finish this weekend story one short. Busy, yeah... but then again, still went for swimming yesterday... heh, heh.... Nowadays, after coming back to home, spend a lot of time reading...
Why? With all the kay poh news coming in, there's just so much to read in the newspapers. We've got Clinton finally admitting to having sexual relationship with Lewinsky lah, we've got the updates on the Commonwealth Games preparation lah, we've got the resignation of two top Bank Negara officials lah, we've got the new exchange rate lah 3.8 against the USD, we've got shocking new measures to overcome the currency problem (someone overseas having the Malaysian ringgit, please take note) and finally to top it all, we've got Anwar being removed as deputy prime minister plus all the allegations against him. Goodness, 1998 sure has been a year ofmany, many events especially for our country.
Back to my story on my weekend spent for Merdeka holidays which I wrote on Tuesday but didn't manage to continue even today!.... :
Finally! I did go somewhere! Still remember your geography? The largest lake in
Malaysia? Well, a bunch of ex-housemates (include one guest, Datuk Lim - nama samaran
sahaja) and I were there to discover...... that it didn't look that large at all.
Well, the lake is definitely huge but due to swampy vegetation like the mengkuang plants living on the protuding mud (or whatever you call it), the area was covered here and there, making it hard to see how vast the lake can be.
We reached Tasik Bera on 30th August, around 10 in the morning. The previous day, at 11.30am, I took an "early out" from the office so that I could be at home early in order to wait for my ex-housemates to arrive from PJ. We departed Seremban after having a late lunch at Seremban Parade at 4.30pm with the plan of spending the night at Bahau town.
After the winding road leading to the town of Kuala Pilah, we were greeted with kampung houses, palm oil plantations, rubber estates.
Err... that's all I managed to write. Pathetic isn't it?
Well, there's actually so much more to tell - stayed at Hotel Million at Triang instead
of Bahau, at Tasik Bera - went for boating, jungle trekking, a visit to an Orang Asli
house (all sounds adventurous but in reality boleh tahan sahaja lah), hear about us being
sucked into near waist-level mud like quicksand, hear about my incompetency in dealing
with my brother's manual camera which made others wait like crazy to have pictures taken,
hear about the games we played at night and had us all nearly die of laughing and hear
about our journey back home from a disappointing waterfall back thru Termeloh and Karak
highway.
Gotta run. Another longgggggg........ week ahead. Gosh! I wish I could just sleep the whole day.....
Regards,
