Hi people!
As mentioned last week, gonna go pokai because of the sudden influx of good movies. So although the Monday (today) was gonna be a holiday, I didn't plan for anything due to uncertainties of whether I could finish my assignment (mass changes on SAP's master data through a batch uploading program - BOM and Routing, yeah, yeah, trying to impress you guys with some SAP jargon!).
Anyhow, wasn't quite finish with it yesterday but what the heck, can still do a bit on Tuesday (yalah Shida... tak dapat siap the 14 inches CDT routing change in the DEV client).
So spent time in Seremban loh...
Went to watch As Good As It Gets on Friday, followed by Deep Impact on Saturday and yesterday watched Mulan. Nearly went to see Great Expectations but then went to Jeramtoi instead with Wen Szu, Siew Chin and boyfriend. Attached are reviews of those movies. Read them only if you've already seen them. I don't want to create any high expectations on you guys.
This afternoon visited my granny in Seremban also. Went to treat the dogs there with some yummy dog food which I've bought for months. The cat there was treated with some Friskies as well.
And... just now went for dinner with a bunch of ex-housemates who dropped by - Meng Heng, Sing Hoon, Keen Wu and Ah Tiong. Missed these people and it was nice of them to drop by. As for me, I shall retire to bed already.
Regards,
Li Li
ps. Creative writing has gone down the drains for the time being. Tunggulah, until I
get "crazy" again....
As Good As It Gets Reviews
Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt as a couple??
Unbelievable yucks... I mean, I always think that Jack Nicholson is too much of a villain to become Helen Hunt's love interest. Look at his devilish grin.... isn't it eerie??? This after watching Wolf and Batman, methinks.
I've waited maybe more than 3 months for this movie and boy, I'm not gonna miss it at the cinema. Mm, Mm... even if it means being 20 minutes late for the show after a sudden urge to watch it right after work on Friday. Not that I mean to be late but there were traffic jams here and there and horrors of horrors, the ticketing computer at Terminal 1 suddenly konked out. My colleague suggested I try to debug the computer system...
Anyhow, what the heck... can still catch the remaining 1 and half hour.
I got into the movie at the part where Greg Kinnear's gay character (sorry, I'm lousy at remembering the names of the characters - instead I only know their real name.... tsk, tsk...) was asking his "boyfriend?" to pose for him and that's where after that he got beaten badly by his boyfriend's friends.
I liked the movie - how the three became a company, how eventually Jack turned nicer, how weird Jack is (actually I used to have a habit not to walk on the lines of tiled floors or pavements except that I didn't get as weird as him avoiding tiny tiles altogether).
Best romantic part was ... when Jack gave that wonderful compliment nearing the end of the show. Before watching this movie, one of my colleagues reminded me to be attentive regarding the compliment part.
And I thought what a disappointment it was when I thought the compliment was about Jack saying "you make me want to be a better man". It's a nice compliment but I think I've heard before. Anyhow, surprise, surprise, the real compliment was just melting (won't tell ya - you watch it), don't ya think?!
Of course, who couldn't forget about that cute, cute dog.... It's so, so CUTE!!!!!!
Mulan Reviews
This has got to be one of the funniest animated-movie ever. I laughed until I cried. It was so unexpectedly funny, funny, funny - from start till the end. Wonderful characters - all of 'em. Need I say more?
From the start, that cute little dog made a blast in the morning, the matchmaking part was a riot, the dragon, Mushu was hilarious and the army training gave me tummy aches from laughing too much. Traditional Chinese beliefs are still intact although there were a number of Americanized stuff like Mushu's street talk and the end part whereby the ancestors were doing the rock and roll!
And I'm proud that how Mulan's character was potrayed. I nearly thought, apa macam... dielah when Shan Yu's army came down from the snowy slopes to attack them.
I think getting a VCD of this for keeps should be worth it.
Disney, keep them coming!
Deep Impact Reviews
This has got to be one of the "bestest" movie ever. It's the most realistic disaster movie in terms of human elements (compared to that of Independence Day whereby we've got cocky pilots and too good-looking a president).
Heard that a lot of people mentioning it as boring (are they for real?). They don't understand it wasn't meant to be an action packed disaster show.
Best parts:
1. Morgan Freeman being the president. Cool and calm. I liked him here, I liked him
in Seven and Robin Hood too. I liked his speeches. That's what the president should
give to the people even though when all hopes seem to go down the drain.
2. The part where Wolf Biedermann's dad let his son go off to find Sarah was just
tearjerking... sob... sob...!
3. The part where the journalist (what's her name? See, I can't remember names well)
held on to her father as the waves were about to strike.
4. The crew of the Messiah saying their last messages to their loved ones.
5. The captain reading Moby Dick to Gus.
6. The humour caused by a student during the celebration of Wolf Biedermann as being
honoured for his discovery of the comet. You'll know what I mean!
The special effects was really good. I loved the part when the first part of the comet struck earth especially the scene when the comet crossed the ocean. It's like WOW!
