Hi people!
This week, I attended one of my ex-primary classmate's wedding. Actually, I've also been to kindergarten with her. Time sure flies and now she's already married.
Sunday morning, I was part of the "zhi mui" (sisters) at her house. When the bridegroom arrived with all the car horns which should have awakened the whole neighbourhood, we had to make sure the bride's room was locked. This was my first time exposed to the wedding "culture".
The bride earlier had shed a few tears (you knowlah... have to be away from parents feelinglah....) and my other friends tried to "touch up" her make-up.
Yen Mee waited outside of the room to resume her duty as the "spy". Once the groom was at the doorstep, requests were made. The first one, asking him to sing a Hakka country love song. Can't really hear it 'coz the wooden door was quite sound proof. Then, asked the groom to say the three wordsloh... . But due to time constraint, cannot play long (actually the groom quite late because the "tea lady" was late). Finished up by demanding ang powlah. Nine ang pows to be exact....
Later, followed the groom to his house where in the afternoon they were holding a "makan ceremony" with Malays also - something like a kenduri.
At night, the dinner was filled with karaoke music/songs (most by the elders - so you know what kinda songs to expect...)
I met up with my other ex-primary classmates - the old DKMS gang. Most of us still the samelah with the exceptional acknowledgement that one of them has already attained "manager" status.
After the wedding dinner, the old gang had supper and planned for a trip from Klang, Kuala Selangor fireflies, Bangsar pub & Sunway Lagoon to Genting Highlands. Anyhow, if La Nina decides to take a rest on one of the December weekends, we'll be off to Genting, else lepak in Shah Alam.
And that raps up this weekend gabs.
Regards,
Li Li
ps. In a hurry to write 'coz tomorrow's busy and today I came back late.
