LiLi’s Weekend Gabs - June4Wk99 (PJ Life)

Entry: 28.6.1999

Hi people!

Well thanks to Gui, most of my after office hours time is spent with her. Normally visit her to have dinner together and later for a chat. Sometimes check my email at her computer. About once a week go swimming at UM with her (& later enjoy our dinner which we term as a "luxury" moment). Once in a while, we go to Kelana Jaya park for a jog and a try at the monkey bar. Gui's really good at the monkey bar while I barely managed to swing past one miserable bar before dropping to the ground.

Once in a blue moon we'll have a "cook-in" (so far two) where Lai Kuan, Chew, Gui and me try to cook up something for dinner.

Today, bought Tarzan VCD and watched at Gui's place. Quite enjoyable (but very predictable). Unfortunately, I thought they'd show Tarzan going to London (like the Lord Greystroke movie) but they didn't. I guess my favourite part is when there's the superb animation of Tarzan swinging and sliding through the jungle - like a huge roller coaster ride.

Occasionally pay a visit to EC's place. Other than that, I'll go shopping once in a very long while. The thing that I normally buy is bread for my daily breakfast. Life in this PJ area is quite expensive and it's quite hard to save money. So far I've been here, I haven't saved money at all.

When I'm in my rented room, I do a lot of reading. I've become quite a voracious reader compared to previous times. I read a lot of stuff related to SAP because there's quite an abundant material available at office. I'm still struggling to finish Emma (Jane Austen). I bought this book again which I lost when someone snatched my handbag with the book in it. I'm wondering whether to start reading Anne of Ingleside or wait until I've read Anne of the Island (anyone who has this book please inform me 'coz I'm literally 'dying' to acquire it).

Nowadays addicted to Utusan Konsumer paper. After reading it, I lost appetite on buying a lot of things! It also makes you aware of your consumer rights. Each weekend, I'll go through the old newspapers as it's already my habit to flip thru the NST newspapers even just to read the headlines.

I also read comics like Doraemon, Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball which my brother buys. There's a bundle of non-fiction books acquired by my brother which seems waiting for me to open them.

Sometimes I am afraid to read story books or watch movies because once I'm in them, it's like I'm absorbed in them and I feel so sad everytime I turned back to reality. But that's life - you can't run away from 'living' life. But I shouldn't complain as compared to some people, I have lived a blessed life. This week I just learnt that one of my close friend's mom died suddenly due to a blood clog in the brain. It was quite a shock. Life is sometimes short. We have people reminding us this fact and yet sometimes we just don't bother about it. For me, as I get older, I am treasuring each moment in life more and more.

Ooh... one of my favourite song is playing on Light N Easy. ....." a beautiful release, memories seep from my veins..." Mmmm that's the song by Sarah McLachlan - Angel. So sad and soaringly beautiful. I can relate to this song very much. I've yet to conquer my mood on one particular thing and that is "work". Someday I really hope work becomes something I do enjoy instead defining it as work.

Regards,
Li Li
