Hi people!
During my time of conducting the Motorola workshop I also had to take care of my 'new' colleagues who were supposed to do programs under my supervision. These people were very fresh and I also had a difficult time to get the programs done. I was already sleeping 4 to 4.5 hours a day and there was a time I had to get back to Carlsberg from 7.30pm to 9.30pm trying to help a colleague finish a program. That night I nearly couldn't get a cab home.
There was also a time I stayed overnight at Carlsberg! Wow, huh! Amidst my busy schedule working, I was also organizing a caving trip to Gua Tempurung, Perak. I had a lot to do and I promised one of the Carlsberg staff to complete a program on time. I couldn't cancel the trip so I decided, heck - prepare to work like hell when I come back. That I did, and it was not that bad. Fortunately, I didn't hear about ghost stories of Carlsberg till the next day!
Working at Carlsberg was cool too. They've got a lounge at the ground floor which serves free beer after working hours! Yeah I could drink myself silly if I wanted too but alas, I don't really fancy alcoholic drinks. Once I went to have a drink with one of the IS staff, a user from the warehouse and two executives from another IT company. All men and the subject would be about beer making at Carlsberg. Quite interesting - learnt that the company pays the custom about 1 million a day in taxes.
Food is no problem, the cafeteria serves reasonable price food for breakfast and lunch. But... not so yummy for my liking. For dinner, the staff offers to call up for pizza or McDonald's burger. And there was once, the staff treated me at a restaurant nearby. Of course, they can always claim from the company for this project.

I also was fortunate to receive two free tickets to watch a singer from Denmark? - Solveig's the name. The concert was held at Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre and I asked EC to accompany me. Thankfully she agreed to. Both of us have no idea who Solveig is. I just wanted to have an experience being in a live concert.
It turned out to be a letdown because Solveig's music is 'popish' and sounds very Japanese. The 'popish' sound was not so hummable except for her hit single - the title which I have forgotten by now. I do remember her rendering a hit by Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around and that was quite good. Other then that, there was nothing much to cheer about and it was quite embarrassing to see people started to leave the pavilion.
The concert was sponsored by Carlsberg which was how I got the tickets. Even then, I did get a guilt feeling of not attending one of Gui's housemate birthday celebration. Firstly, I only received the tickets on the same day. Secondly, I don't really know her housemate that well so I didn't want to put myself in an uncomfortable position. What made it worse was that I wasn't able to contact Gui to inform her I wasn't coming due to faulty phones all the way. Fortunately, it wasn't a big deal and the issue never turned ugly.
I think I enjoyed myself more at the Subway, a pub at Amcorp Mall, PJ on Lai Kuan's birthday. The band - Outbreak from Philippines performed and they were great. They sang the latest hits with gusto but the two guys outshone the two gals with their great voices. Then, they also performed a hilarious sketch which brought the house down.

Quite a lot of 'side' activities done during my working stint at Carlsberg. You can check out my story of the Gua Tempurung trip held in the middle of August. And finally, although I worked on our country's national day which was a public holiday, I was lucky to have contacted Ching Ching and learned about a ex-housemates gathering at KLCC - the Petronas Twin Towers to watch the opening ceremony of the tallest building in the world. We watched the ceremony held on huge billboard screens facing the fountain side. Little did we know that the actual place to be first at the front entrance because that's the best place to witness the fireworks and laser show. And I'm worse..... I was actually in the toilet when the fireworks started! I felt bad because two of my friends joined me and we all missed the most important part of the show!
Finally, I attended a dinner held by Carlsberg for the project ending. It was held at a restaurant in KLCC which was one of Carlsberg outlets. Carlsberg brought their own beer so people could drink like crazy. My company sponsored the wine. I liked neither. The staff there smoked and drank and I felt really out of place. Thanks to the company of my own colleagues like Kelly, Wai Meng and my boss - plus a kind Indian IS staff, it wasn't so bad. We came at 7.30pm and you know what? Our dinner only started at 10pm! By the time I reached back, it was already midnight. Wow, what an exhaustive night.
