Insadong Antique Artworks Street

About 70 shops presently deal with antique art works around the Insa-dong Intersection. The art works are mainly old paintings, ceramics, wooden ware, and metal works. The works range from earthen ware of the Unified Shilla period to white porcelain of the Choson period. The shops here specialize in one general item, antique furniture, art works, or miscellaneous articles.

They are not easily categorized by the standards of quality or expensiveness of the goods. Customers can sell or exchange their own antique art works.
The Antique Art Works Auction Co., Ltd., in the building opposite the T'ong-in Shop, holds auction and takes a 10% fee if auctioned goods are sold.
The company also holds an exhibition for the choice of the antique art works for collectors several times a year.
Those who want to open an antique shop should get the "written permission for cultural property transaction business" issued by the government.

Chang-an-dong Antique Shopping Complex

This market includes the Usong, Songhwa and Samhui Buildings that house about 150 antique shops. An enormous variety of items, ranging from Neolithic artifacts to more recent articles, are sold at very reasonable prices. The items range from ceramics, woodenware, lacquerware and bronzeware to ancient calligraphy and paintings. Each shop here deals in its own specialized items. The market is closed on the first and third Sunday of the month.
