                      1985 v Richmond at the MCG: Jason Dunstall had played
                      his last reserves match two weeks before. Leigh Matthews
                      was still deregistered from the then VFL, so Dunstall was
                      the sole focus of the Hawks' forward line. He delivered with
                      eight goals in what would be the first of 16 consecutive wins
                      against the Tigers.

                      1986 grand final v Carlton: Late in the second quarter
                      Dunstall led into the pocket ahead of Doull, grabbed the ball
                      and snapped truly over his shoulder at the Punt Road end. It
                      was Dunstall at his athletic best.

                      1989 v Carlton at Waverley Park: The Blues had the lead
                      late in the final quarter. But when the Hawks steamed out of
                      the middle with seconds to go, they found Dunstall on a
                      half-forward flank. His 100th goal for the season gave
                      Hawthorn a five-point win.

                      1990 v Geelong at Waverley Park: After playing one of the
                      great grand finals the year before, Hawthorn opened the
                      season by pumping Geelong. Dunstall tormented the Cats,
                      and particularly full-back Austin McCrabb, with a lazy 12
                      goals.

                      1990 v Collingwood at Waverley Park: After fracturing his
                      skull against Melbourne, a helmeted and bearded Dunstall
                      returned late in the year to help the teetering Hawks make
                      the finals. On this day, he torched the Pies with 11 goals.
                      He had not skipped a beat.

                      1992 v Richmond at Waverley Park: The scoreline said it
                      all: 17 goals, just one short of Fred Fanning's long-time
                      record. With the record in sight, he passed to a teammate in
                      a better position and chased an opponent to the middle of
                      the ground in the dying seconds.

                      1993 v Footscray at the Western Oval: The Hawks won
                      well and a left-foot snap from outside 50 metres, in which he
                      had to chase out and baulk two Bulldogs, stands out as one
                      of his best individual efforts.

                      1993 v North Melbourne at the MCG: North led when
                      Dunstall hit the post with minutes left. But with 50 seconds
                      to go, he crashed to the turf 25 metres out, held the mark,
                      was treated for 30 seconds, then kicked the goal, to notch
                      14 wins against the Roos on the trot.

                      1996 v Melbourne at the MCG: It was round 22. Dunstall
                      needed nine goals for his ton and the Hawks needed to win
                      to make the finals. Dunstall got 10 and Hawthorn got home
                      by a point.

                      1998 v Western Bulldogs at Waverley Park: With two
                      bung knees and his trademark acceleration just about gone,
                      Dunstall booted all six of Hawthorn's first-quarter goals. He
                      finished with eight and the Hawks lost, but for 30 minutes it
                      was just like old times. Lots of old times.
