The NBA Draft is not always a happy day for the candidates. Some drop down the field, or even worst, some don't get drafted at all. Some of them are just wannabes while some are capable of getting into a roster of a team. There were several college superstars left off the draftboard. Among them are Ed Cota of UNC, Jaron Rush of UCLA, Johnny Hemsley of Maimi and Eddie Gill of Weber State. Ed Cota of UNC may have gotten hurt because he was undersized. However, most point guards in this draft was undersized too. Unlike those other small point guards, Ed Cota may have been considered less of a shooter which dropped his stock considerably. Still, Cota is a good player and he showed that he could run a team. He could have been a nice backup shooting guard for any team. He could have taken Jaquay Walls or Igor Rakocevic spot in the draft. | |||||||||||||||||
| Jaron Rush of UCLA was considered a talent. However, by not making the outside shots and with poor showing in the draft camp, Rush was left out of the draft. While still serving an NCAA suspension, Rush had no choice but to apply the draft. However, Remember the Rush made a huge impact in UCLA that when he played his first game back, Rush helped struggling UCLA beat the Number 1 team in the country and put the Bruins back into the NCAA Tournament. | |||||||||||||||||

Johnny Hemsley of Maimi was suprising left off the draftboard also. Hemsley is an athletic player and good moves to the basket. Hemsley would have made into a better player or would at least rank up with draftees Pete Mikeal, Kaniel Dicken, Chris Porter and Matt Karcher. Eddie Gill is another name left off the board. The scouts actually thought that Eddie Gill made a good showing during the draft camp to raise his stock and get drafted. However, maybe the breaks were just not favoring Gill. These four might not have been drafted, but who knows, they might still have a chance to make a team as an invitee and make the NBA dream. Chucky Atkins of the Magic did it with much success. Maybe on of them can do it too. | |||||||||||||||||
