Tremblant near St. Jovite, Quebec is the best ski resort in eastern North America. The skiing is amazing, the lifts are fast, and the mountain village is beautiful. They've got five high-speed quads and this summer they'll be adding an 8 passenger gondola. "ZIG ZAG", "VERTIGE", "DYNAMITE", "EXPO" and "COSSAK" are steep, sometimes deep and as challenging as getting a fly away from you after you've rolled in cow shit. The village has 5 star hotels and condos and enough restaurants and bars to keep you going on all night. The only problem is the crowds, but if you got to "THE EDGE", which is deserted. The chair is extremely slow, so I guess there are reasons for everything
Too much has been written on this behemoth of a resort so I'll keep this short. This place really does kick royal ass in North America. I went there last December when only the top half of the mountain was open and they had 12 thousand people there. I didn't even notice the crowds so imagine when they had the whole place open. All the awards that this place got from numerous ski publications are very well deserved.
This place says they get about 400 inches of snow a year --- BULLSHIT! I once went there when they said they had got 43 inches of snow the night before, and there were bare spots and rocks everywhere. The facilities are sickening, they smell like piss and are dirty as a Harlem apartment. The trails are pretty nice but it's never sunny there. I've been there 12 times, all when sun was predicted and there was always one big, ugly cloud over the peak.
