Jean has also graduated with the Armed Forces as a Transport Officer at Camp Borden, Ontario in 1963. In 1964, with the 4th Transport Company, he went to Wainwright, Alberta, with the Regular Armed Forces for summer exercises.

Jean has also worked with the Cadet Corps during 10 years as a Captain and was decorated with the Canadian Decoration Medal.

He dedicated himself to english teaching to young people during all his carreer.

He has spent his leisure time as a hockey manager and coach in his hometown, Beauceville.

As a hobby, Jean also makes maple products for himself and his friends.
