Very popular in Sombo and other submission style contests in Europe and through out the world. Hand made, all leather shoes direct from Russia. Grey with black trim and a soft sole these shoes are great for all forms of mat fighting. Giving the footing of a free style wrestling shoe but for more flexibility allowing better escapability from leg locks.
For wrestlers the average shoe gives great footing but it is far easier to hook a foot in a solid shoe. Also it you are like me and work with a lot of Judo teams they will often frown or simply not allow the wearing of wrestling shoes but they will allow these soft leather shoes.
Judo players all know the hazards of toe injuries on mats all too well. I broke every toe on both feet – some of them several times before I wised up and started wearing soft soled shoes. To you coaches out there. Generally there are two ways to go with shoes and protecting your valuable mats. Wrestling shoes with a rougher sole that can cause more wear and tear on a mat. Or have your students go bare foot where they spread more germs, fungi and put more oil and sweat into your mat leading to deterioration. With bare feet there is a need for strong disinfectant used frequently on your mats. With these shoes you curtail both giving your mat’s longer life and adding to the safety of your students.
