Philosophy: Since I am old and fat, I do not have the advantages of youth
or enthusiasm, so I must rely on wisdom and treachery! Seriously, I come to Judo/Jujitsu
for fun, a good workout, excercise, and hope to learn something to improve my technique. I
am never disappointed. I am frequently stiff and sore. Ibuprofin is my friend! I do enjoy
wrestling with men half my age. So far, I am able to hold my own.
Most importantly, I don't want anyone to be injured at practice. Hurt a little, is almost
expected. Minor bumps, bruises, aches and pains are ok. If you don't strain your muscles a
little, you aren't fully participating. That is one reason I like Judo/Jujitsu so much, we
get to work out at full strength, full speed. No holding back. But I do want to be careful
that no one is injured.
I find that randori and tournaments are where I find out how much I don't know. They are
very good learning experiences.
I have had many excellent teachers (sensei's) and am very grateful for their time and
encouragement.
We do this for fun, right?
