Epilogue: Mourning

TB instead of Russell |
And so ended a fantastic trip. SLC had been a great venue for a trip like this,
enabling us to plant ourselves in one spot and ski many different spots. The locals looked
after us, and the condo crew turned out to be a great bunch of people who got on fine. |
| Mike breaking his leg so early in the trip put on a temporary dampener, and we lost
the use of the big couch for the duration! but we got used to having our condo mascot, The
Cripple, although we often forgot to feed him (which elicited Eeyore-ish grizzling). One
person gets a special mention for hospitality beyond the call of duty, and thats Bob
Thompson (Bahb, alias Pigopowder). He was simply great. Driving us to and from ski areas
at huge inconvenience to himself and generally showing us around; he and Irene did more
than their share to make the Utah Invasion a roaring success. Thanks are due to Glen
Lamson and Mr and Mrs Good Ol Ed, too. |
TB has been grizzling so here is his snap of Buttdorg in the pub |

...and here is TB with Glen Plake. I never realised Plake was so short. |

...and here is TB with Seth Morrison, after whom TBs skis are named. He is also
evidently very short. |
| For the 1999 Invasion, we had planned to drop on Tahoe, but the falling antipodean
dollar put paid to that: and so in March 1999, we shall invade first Whistler, and then
the BC interior. Hopefully, some of the Utah Invasion force will be able to re-group
(namely me, TB, Tigger, and Tabi. Mike East will defy his perfect run of injuries by going
to Antarctica), and again hopefully, other people from aus.snow and rec.skiing.alpine will
join the fun and have embarassing stories told about them and embarassing photos taken of
them. Like this one: |

He does this quite a lot. No one takes any notice. |
So well see you in Canada!!!
