RECHASIM Mountain Biking Group in Israel

Rechasim is a mountain bike group getting together every Friday
(...Almost) to ride together for a few hours.
This is a very straight forward and serious description of the group,
and I would like everyone to relate to it in utmost seriousness (-; (-:
I'll leave the funny description to Kutz...who will no doubt have many comments about the group's activity.

We are all friends coming from different places and various backgrounds.
The thing that bonds us together is the love of mountain biking and the fun of exploring the landscape on a bike, together with other people.
For many of us, the group and the company of people is no less
important the ride itself.

usually, on a Friday's ride we are all men (Where are the women???), without any other member of the family (Hey everybody -did you ever stop to ask yourselves if the reason for riding is trying to run away from home, to rest our minds from the problematic everyday life....???? ).
Sometimes some of the second generation is joining us, boys and girls that have significant riding capabilities.

As far as I know, we have already covered the whole country by bike. All our tours are variations of previous trips, coming from one place to another on a different trail, and starting at different places to get to the last time starting point, etc. One may think that Israel is a small country, well it's true - even on a bike.

Before my times, the group was about 5-6 people riding on very cheap bikes (Steel and Chromoly frames- God forbid) with no suspension. Later everybody has upgraded its bike, and today the group consists of 15 to 30 people per ride , with the top of the line bikes - Aluminum, Carbon fiber and Titanium, and double suspension, or hard tails with suspension seat posts.

When I joined with the cheap bike, and dragged along puffing and having a hard time - I thought it is the bike, and said to myself that once I have a better bike it will change. Well - I was wrong, the bike has no relation to the capability of the rider - It's all in the mind (Just kidding...)

One might think that everybody is coming for the ride and for the exploration of our lovely country. Five minutes after joining the group it is clear that everybody is interested in the new bike one of the group bought, or the new gadget that somebody installed. The whole conversation subject usually is the latest and greatest of the bike industry.
Some of us don't even know where we are going, and for them to read a map is like Chinese.

Well, in general that is all I can say about the group, and about the fun we are all having together.

    The best to you all...

      Yoni

How to become a Rechasim member

From time to time, we add more riders to our group. Currently, however, we are just too many and the rides become too crowded. We do encourage prospective riders to stay in touch by e-mail, and we hope to be able to accept more riders in the near future. Be sure to include details about yourself, your riding experience, your bike, etc. Feel free to use our site to plan your rides and catch up on our news. We will also love to hear about your special biking experiences and any tips or suggestions that might be of use to enthusiastic riders.
