Jack is probably the same age as Ralph or maybe older. Jack was thin and bony and he had red hair, he had a freckled face, which was crumpled. Jack’s eyes were always used in the novel to show his emotions. Jack is one of the only characters last names we learn. This is maybe because he is proud of his last name. Jack has a strong personality and likes to be dominant and in charge. Jack does not believe that the beast exists, and is leader of the anarchy on the island. Jack doesn’t like following the rules he only wants to hunt and have a good time not seeming to care about being rescued. Jack and his tribe and examples of the beast going wild, in the start of the story jack, still following the previous society law could not bear to kill the pig that he comes across. “I agree with Ralph we’ve got to have rules and obey them. After all were not savages were English, and the English are the best at everything, so we’ve got to do the right thing” As the story progresses he becomes less and less attached to normal behaviour. Near the end, he feels no shame about killing about the death of Piggy and Simon, nor his attempts to kill Ralph. “If your hunting sometimes…. you feel as if your not hunting but being hunted as if something is behind you all the time in the jungle”.
This is a photo of Jack later on in the book when he has become more of a savage. You can see his tribal face painting to show this, He is also not wearing a shirt. He is also holding a spear and has painting on his chest aswell.
