Diamond Dallas Page d. The Barbarian with Jimmy Hart
����After Page told Denver fans about Jay Leno joining him to fight Hollywood
����Hogan and Eric Bischoff at Road Wild, Jimmy Hart challenged the former US
����Champion to a match on behalf of his Tongan charge. The Barbarian took DDP
����to the hole, avoiding two Diamond Cutter attempts and receiving some help
����from his seedy manager. But DDP persevered and, on a third attempt, dropped
����the big man with his devastating finisher.
No Contest: Tokyo Magnum with Disco Inferno vs. Psychosis
����Before this match was a minute old, the NWO's Scott Norton came to the ring
����and powerbombed both competitors. Post-match, Norton claimed that, since he
����didnt have a match, he made his own. Norton then challenged any and all comers.
����Despite Jimmy Harts reservations, Hugh Morrus answered the call, but was met
����with another Norton powerbomb.
Brian Adams with Vincent d. Hacksaw Jim Duggan
����Vincent can take almost equal credit for this win over the seasoned patriot.
����Hacksaw dominated Adams with fisticuffs and football-style takedowns, but
����the NWO valet kept interfering and distracting Duggan with elbows and trips.
����After a wicked shoulder block, Duggan prepared for Old Glory. But Vincent
����distracted the grisly veteran with an attempted assault with Duggan's 2X4.
����Duggan avoided the attack, but fell prey to an Adams piledriver and pinfall.
Eddy Guerrero d. Juventud Guerrera
����Prepping for his Cruiserweight Title shot, Juvy decided to take on what many
����experts feel is, pound for pound, the best wrestler performing today. Unfortunately
����for Guerrera, the match result supported that claim. Juvy fought brilliantly,
����but couldn't avoid a wicked shoulderbreaker and a Frog Splash.
Lizmark, Jr. d. Stevie Ray
����WCW TV Title Match
����Pre-match, Stevie Ray gave Gene Okerlund documents that supposedly gave him
����the right to defend the TV Title. The Harlem Heater brutalized Lizmark in
����and out of the ring, but lost his concentration when Chavo arrived ringside.
����The psychotic Cruiserweight grabbed a microphone and showed a notary public
����stamp that he found in Stevie Ray's bag. (It appeared that the Big Heat had
����used the stamp to forge the documents he showed Okerlund to Gene). Stevie
����Ray chased Guerrero back to the dressing room. Lizmark won after a count-out.
Curt Hennig with Scott Norton d. Konnan
����After a sharp start, Hennig took the low road with the Wolfpac Luchador and
����held a short advantage. But K-Dawg hit a low dropkick and a pancake piledriver.
����Konnan even managed to lock in the Tequila Sunrise, but Scott Norton interference
����prevented referee Billy Silverman from acknowledging the submission. The NWO
����bully took a swing at Konnan, aiding Hennig in getting the Fisherman's Suplex
����and the pin. Post-match, Kevin Nash ran in and cleared the ring.
Rey Mysterio, Jr. d. Chris Jericho
����Monday night, Mysterio and Jericho added fuel to one of the greatest Cruiserweight
����feuds in the history of the sport. Mysterio flew high with springboards and
����huracanranas. Jericho utilized his own lightning speed and substantial power
����advantage -- including a gorilla slam into a tombstone piledriver. Jericho
����injured his knee delivering a missile dropkick to the arena floor, but managed
����to keep momentum until he missed a subsequent springboard dropkick attempt.
����Mysterio attempted his springboard huracanrana roll-up, but Jericho tossed
����Marc Curtis in the way. The Lyin' Heart then tried to execute the Liontamer.
����Rey countered the maneuver with a rollup pin. Dean Malenko -- the man who
����will be acting as guest referee for Jericho's Road Wild title match -- made
����the count.
Scott Hall and The Giant d. Sting and Bret Hart
����WCW World Tag Team Title Match
�� Even announcer Michael Buffer seemed confused when Bret Hart entered the ring,
����but no one in Denver was ready for Sting to appear from the rafters in his
����old, black-and-white face paint. After a short and questionable in-ring stint,
����Hart tagged Sting. The Silent One fought NWO Hollywood single-handedly and
����-- after absorbing a beating from Hall -- managed to down both of his opponents.
����The Hitman entered with Stings bat and struck Hall, allowing Sting to get
����the pin. Referee Mickey J reversed the decision, Hart ran with the belts and
����Team Hollywood continued to annihilate Sting... until Goldberg arrived.
