WWF Byte This Report- 01/13 by Jeff Jacobson (1/13/2000) Hosted by: Kevin Kelly and Dr. Tom Prichard Guests: Scotty Too Hotty and Rikishi Phatu Report by: Kevin Gregg Kevin Kelly is along with Dr. Tom Prichard and they are starting off the show by saying that those in the north east are in for a big snow storm. Kevin says that they only got a little snow so far. Kevin talks about how Rikishi Phatu was supposed to join the show, but due to the tragedy of the death of Gary Albright, he has the night off. Tom says that Rikishi has gone a long way in such a short amount of time. Kevin says that he thought that Rikishi would get off as a wild eyed no selling samoan, but he was wrong. That's part of his character, but there is so much more to his character. Kevin says that he knows that Rikishi has had a lot of career problems in the WWF in the past, but now he is going somewhere as Rikishi. He used to be Fatu of the Headshrinkers, Fatu the rapper guy who wanted to make a change, The Sultan among other characters in the WWF. Rikishi will be in the Royal Rumble and Dr. Tom says that 28 names have been released that are going to be in the Royal Rumble. Kevin jokes that he and Tom are going to be number 29 and 30 in the Rumble. Kevin and Tom talk about how Vince won the Rumble last year. Kevin talks about how the fans enjoyed RAW because The Rock took over and put Stephanie and Triple H in their place. Tom says the Royal Rumble will be a great night for Mankind, Cactus Jack, Mick Foley, whatever you want to call him as he goes against Triple H in a Street Fight. Kevin jokes about writing a book, so he can be on the best sellers lists. Tom says that he isn't sure that he would want to tell his stories. Kevin says that Scotty Too Hotty is who as a young man dreamed of being a WWF Superstar, and now he is there. Scotty Too Hotty joins the show, and he says that he is in Portland, Maine. Kevin asks him what it's like to be as a part of Too Cool. Scott says that it's unbelievable, and he has been with the WWF for a number of years now. Tom says that he has gone through a number of characters with Brian Christopher and now he's really going somewhere along with Brian. Kevin says that Scott wanted to be a WWF superstar since he was young, and Scott says he was 16 when he had his first match. Scott says that not too long ago, he was getting beat up by the Heavenly Bodies, but now with the right combination, he is going far in the WWF. Kevin says they are talking about this as it's truly getting hot. Kevin says the response last Tuesday at Smackdown! was off the charts. Scott says that he couldn't believe the response was for them, and when he is doing the worm, he can hear people laughing, and almost start laughing himself. Tom asks him where he learned to do the worm, and Scott says that he used to break dance in 6th grade. Kevin says that they will be on the search for video of Scott when he was younger. Kevin asks if Scott and Brian were gay and Scott says that they weren't, and said that he thought it was Michael Cole and Kevin Kelly. Kevin asks if he and Brian were going to get married at one time, and then they take a few shots at the former WWF writers and Scott says they were smoking crack when they were thinking of an angle like that. They talk about how they started the gimmick a while back and then Brian got a knee injury, so they had to wait a while before coming in as Too Cool. Scott says it was a blessing in disguise, and he feels that it was for the best, because it gave them some time to think about the gimmick and such. Kevin says that having the experience of Rikishi must be an asset to them. Scotty says he is a good guy and he helps them out. Kevin says that all three of them want success and they want to get to the next level, and they will do whatever it takes to get to the next level. Kevin says that it's great for the fans, and he is enjoying the ride. Tom says that it's not only getting to that next level, but it's crossing over to the even next level. Scott says they have new lighting, and they will keep it fresh. They can't do the same dance every week, because the fans will get boring. Kevin asks Scott if he's taking ribbing pills, because he's got a lot of ribbing in him lately. They talk about Disney Land, and Scott says that he was there twice last year. Kevin says that a lot of wrestlers in the back are fans of amusement parks and we read about that in Mick Foley's book. Kevin says they have a lot of people who want to talk to Scotty, so they go to the phones. They go to line two, and the caller asks Scotty if he will be going after any major titles. Scott says they will be concentrating on the tag team belt for now. The caller asks Kevin Kelly if he knows when Cactus Jack is going to come back. Kevin says that he's coming back at the Royal Rumble. The caller says that Too Cool is the greatest tag team in the WWF and he wishes them luck on their road to tag team gold. Kevin asks Scott if he was informed that he is in the Royal Rumble match, and Scott says he heard that today. Kevin asks him how it feels to be in the Royal Rumble. Scott says that it feels great, and they are going to have to split it three ways. The winner of the Rumble gets a WWF Championship match at Wrestlemania and that will be in California. Kevin talks about how Rikishi is dealing with family tragedy, and they hope to have him back on the show in the near future. They talk more about how Rikishi Phatu is great to have with them, because he is a great experience factor. They go to line 5, and the caller says he can't believe he actually got through! The caller congratulates Scotty on the success of Too Cool. The caller asks when the WWF approached Scott with the idea of Too Cool, what his thoughts were. Scott says he was wishy washy at first, and it was around when the Hardy Boyz started wearing their street clothes and such. Scott says they were trying to be like them, but they weren't supposed to be cool. When they came back months later, they were all of the sudden cool. Kevin asks Scott if he has to call Brian Grandmaster Sexay. Scott says that he is sexay, so yeah. Kevin says that he is the whitest man there is, and he asks what the difference between a homey and a mo fo is. Scott says he doesn't even know what a mo fo is, but Brian says it all the time. Scott says homey is someone that you like, and Scott says that mo fo is abbreviated for something that he doesn't know what it is. Kevin asks Tom what it is, and Tom says that he has an idea, and he says mo folks. It's obvious that these guys are joking, because they can't say what it really is on the air. They go to another caller and the caller asks why Too Cool chose to be with Rikishi Phatu. Scott says he's their homey, and the caller asks if they could chose someone else. Kevin asks the caller if they have a problem with Rikishi's big ass. The caller says no, and the caller just wants to know why they chose him. It's the experience factor, and he's great to have in their group. They go to line 2, and the caller says that he is a homey of Too Cool. The caller says that he saw many matches that Dr. Tom had, and they were great. The caller has a question for Grandmaster Sexay, but Grandmaster Sexay isn't on the show. Kevin and Tom tell the caller that they have Scotty Too Hotty on the show, but the caller acts as if he doesn't know who Scotty is. The caller tells Scotty to take some dancing lessons from the Grandmaster Sexay. Scott says that the Grandmaster has been helping him out. The caller turned out to be the Grandmaster Sexay and he says that he had to call in because he heard that Scotty was going to be there all by himself. They talk to Grandmaster Sexay for a few, and he is thrilled with the success of Too Cool. It's taking off like a rocket and all they needed was some tv time. Now all they need is more time on the mic, and Too Cool will just be too cool! Tom asks Brian what made him think about Rikishi, and Brian says that he has been in the business for years and years, and he's had gimmicks that didn't work. In Memphis, he was down there on an assignment, and he was doing a gimmick like he's doing now, but without the dancing. They've known for a long time that Rikishi could get down for a long time, and they just mixed things up a bit, and now we have what we see on tv with Rikishi Phatu. Brian says that they can't wait for a shot at the tag team belts, and Scotty says that they should be getting a shot next week. Brian and Scott think there are no other top teams in the WWF besides them. Brian says that there's no one that is going to entertain the fans more than Too Cool as a team right now. Brian says that when you combine the experience of he and Scott in the wrestling business, you've got over 20 years of experience, and it's their time to shine. Kevin talks about how Rocky Maivia wrestled the Sultan at Wrestlemania 13, and no one cared about the match, but now you look at today's show, the two same guys are getting the biggest reaction. Kevin mentions to Brian that both he and Scott are in the Rumble, and Brian says if it comes down to he and Scott, maybe they'll end it with a dance off. Kevin asks them how much time they put in on working on the choreography. Brian says that they put in 15 minutes before a match. Rikishi comes to them with a great move, and they practice it. Brian says that they put a little swerve in the dance steps on Smackdown! tonight. They go to line 6, and the caller asks where they learned their dance moves. Brian says they weren't inherited on his side, and Scotty didn't get them either. Kevin says that the worm is very impressive, and Scotty asks Kevin when he saw his worm. They go to the callers, and they go to line one. The caller asks what their perspective is on the other WWF superstars. Like being with The Rock and all the big superstars, and how does it feel to compete against them. Scott says that it feels great, and to be against the top guys in the business, it's great. They head over to line 3, and the caller asks how long Too Cool have been a tag team together. Scott says that it'll be 3 years this Wrestlemania, and he says he thinks they've been together longer than any other tag team. The caller asks if they've been to WCW, and Brian says he hasn't been to WCW. Another caller calls in and asks if they read The Rock's book. They said that they haven't, and the caller asks if they think they'll win the tag team belts soon, and Brian says yeah. They go to another caller and the caller asks if Scotty is ever going to fight the Mean Street Posse. Kevin asks Scotty if he sees the Posse going to the next level, and both Scott and Brian say no. Brian says they may get a chance to get their hands on the Posse on Sunday. They go to line 3, and the caller says that he's a homey, and he wonders if it comes down to Too Cool at the rumble, what do they plan to do. They say that they are going to have a dance off, and Kevin asks the caller who the better dancer is and the caller says Scotty Too Hotty. Line 6, the caller asks how Scott began in the WWF. Scott says he came to the WWF about the same time as Brian, and they were in the Light Heavyweight Tournament, but he got eliminated by Kane, go figure. They go to line one, and the caller asks if when Tazz comes, will he be feuding with Kurt Angle? Kevin says that he will be looking to stretch Too Cool, jokingly. Kevin says that he doesn't know what Tazz is going to do, but he is part of the WWF. They go to line 3, and the caller asks Too Cool what their favorite wrestlers are, Scotty says his is the Grandmaster, and Brian says that his is Rikishi. They go to line 4 and the caller asks Brian if he's related to Jerry "The King" Lawler, because he heard that rumor. (Editors Note: How stupid are these people who call in? Jeez!) Brian says that he'll have to check his family history. They go to line 3 and the caller asks about Brian's USWA days, and he's been a fan of him since he was part of the New Kids. Scotty asks what the New Kids is, and Brian explains it to him, and it's a tag team he formed with the only guy in the business that's shorter than Tazz. Brian says that back then, it was a circuit that would run every week and you would wrestle 6 times a week, every week. It was constant travelling and it was rough, because they only had one day off a week. Brian says that guys now a days aren't paying their dues. Wrestlers come in after 2 years, and Brian has been in the game 9 years before he went anywhere. Brian talks about how Jerry Lawler got a deal and he'll be working with a promotion. They go to line 6, and the caller asks if they were to part ways any time soon, if they'd get big pops like they are now. They both say that they will, and it happened last night in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tom says that when Too Cool comes out to dance, the whole place becomes alive. Kevin mentions that when Jeff and Debra were together, they'd get huge pops, but when Jeff was alone, it was a flop. Kevin talks about when Rikishi went to leave the ring, and Brian stopped him, the crowd knew that they were going to dance. Brian says that a lot of times, Rikishi wants to take care of business, and then get out of there. Brian says if the people are loud enough, Rikishi will get in the ring and do his thing in the ring. Too Cool leave the show and they take a quick break. Kevin says that one of the most fun sites that is a part of WWF.com is ho-train.com, and to see the Godfather look at the site is just so much fun. It's a fun site to navigate through and to check out the hopefuls sending their pictures in. Kevin says there is a RAW magazine that is it's way to newsstands very soon and there are pictures of Terri that are excellent. Kevin says that the magazine is a must, and he saw a preview copy. Tom asks him how he got his preview copy, and Kevin says that he is a writer at larger and is part of the publications. They go to line 3 and the caller asks about internet rumors about Chris Jericho not getting along with management, and stuff with Kevin Nash trying to bring him down, being good friends with Triple H. The caller wants to know if there's truth to the rumors or if it's internet bull crap. Kevin says that it's a lot of internet rumor and speculation. Kevin says that any time someone comes into the WWF, whether you're brand new or a veteran, you have to adapt to the WWF style. The way things are done in the WWF is unique, and the locker room leaders try to help out the new guys. Kevin says that Chris will have a long and successful career in the WWF. They go to the last call, and it's line 6, and the caller asks how Dr. Tom got the name of "Dr." Kevin asks how Tom got his rank as a Dr., and Tom says that he wanted to be a doctor at one time, and it was Robert Fuller who made his dream come true. He took a few courses, and got an honorary degree. |
