* GR8-0 START TO THE SEASON*

~ defeat upsets the hopes of heroes.~

Oh dear, what a let down the first game of the season has turned out. A huge defeat at the hands of, don't know their name but, the "GUY's in GREEN BIBS". Eight-Nil is a tough score and one might say thoroughly deserved. It was generally a close match, until the kick-off. It soon became apparent that the greens were far fitter than our boys, sorry, old men in red. They were faster and obviously used to playing football, an unfair advantage it might be said.

The first half was generally worse than the second, within five minutes a cry came out from Mark down the right wing "I'm Knackered" but the guttsy little man still kept at it. Marking player after player, though always the wrong one. Ali certainly tried to play hard but his health was against him and had to come off in the first half to have a puff, if you'll pardon the expression, of and inhaler. But he battled on!

Training will be the key to survival, and if the team wants to live up to their promises ("We'll storm through this league"-M Aylmer) then they need to get into the fields a lot more and do some stamina training too.

They would have gone down by more at the tail end of the match had it not been for some sensational keeping from the Welshman.

All suffered injuries in the match, mostly grazes form the astro turf but only the southern poof in the team complained, "God my knee stings" said Francis pouring water on the smallest of grazes.

Next week's match should be a good one. The team they are playing lost 5-0 today so both teams will be expecting to change their luck, it'll be do or die. WATCH THIS SPACE.
