HEROES WELCOME!!!
The HH team were on improved form today after a change in management.
With Lucy Mockford as the Guv'nor the team only went down by five goals
to nil in the game against the team in white/yellow/purple/grey, (don't
you wish all teams could have as well thought out strip as us!). Having
made a rapid promotion from Chief Cheer Leader to Manager, Lucy's
influence was obvious from the start, three of our team had custom
shirts on, hand made by Mockford, and again until the kick off they
looked lots better.
Then things started to look familiar. In the first five minutes they
went a goal down, scored by whom I don't know. Worst was to follow as
Sickboy, in a valiant attempt to defend, ran blatantly into his own area
to clear the ball and gave away a penalty. Swiftly taken by one of the
players on the other team it was struck well and Chambers didn't get a
body part to it, 2-0! Sickboy said at the end "I accept full
responsibility for that goal."
Two more goals were to follow in the first half, one a damn good goal
the other given away in a silly moment of apathy. The "others" booted
the ball down our end of the pitch while everyone, except Chambers, was
up. The heroes left it assuming it would go out for a throw in but one
of the other team, in a particularly silly hair cut, made a run stopped
the ball on the corner passed back to their guy in grey on the edge of
the semi-circle, no defence to be sin (seen for those not used to the
new bosses accent) and put it cleanly past the keeper, 4-0.
End of the first half.
Coming off looking extremely hot and a bit pissed off the team felt
frustrated by the other team's love for sticking very close to the
rules.
Second Half.
This was much tighter. Only one goal conceded and several chances to
score themselves.
Mark had his chance to redeem himself with a great opportunity, he'd
beaten the defence, he beat the goal keeper, if only it weren't for
those blasted posts. Other chances came for Pedgar, Aeddan and Ali, but
unfortunately, so unaccustomed to being in the position to score the
blew them all and so we still came away with no goals scored.
But I'm being harsh. The Heroes this week were fitter, faster and a bit
more skilled than the team I watched last week. In the second half they
pretty much matched the opposition but they couldn't reduce the deficit.
Best moment of the game: Frigarse falling arse over tit close to the
end.
End of match: 5-0.
The team came off the pitch happy with their performance though
disappointed to have lost five nil. Some complaints were heard, Aeddan
put out about some of the other teams claims for a penalty, not give by
the way and Francis saying, and he said I could quote him, "Oh my knee
stings", having cut his other knee in his fall.
WE NEED A GOAL!!
The way we are going is encouraging and if we can make
the same improvement next week we will only go down by 2 goals, much
better don't you think! Next weeks game, and apologies for in accuracy's
last week, is against a team who contains a traitor, a Holgates person
playing for the other side (No inference on his sexual preferences!).
Best shot of the match: R Chambers, out of goal for the first time in
the game right at the end, ok it was not an easily shot, booted it
really hard and I believe it was last seen heading for Saturn.
"Though they were better than us, the future's bright, the future's
Holgates" - PEdgar. A good sentiment to end on I think!
