The ollie is the probably the most important trick to learn, because it is the basis for all other tricks.
STEP 1: First off all, to learn the ollie it may be easier if you are standing still. If you feel more comfortable moving, go for it, otherwise you may want to put your back wheels in a crack to keep from rolling all over.
STEP 2: Place the ball (part just back from the toes) on the very tip of the tail of the board, and place your front foot slightly behind the front bolts. Your front foot should either be slightly pointed forward (no more than 45 degrees) or perpendicular (left and right) to the board.
STEP 3: Bend you knees slightly, and quickly kick the tail down to cause it to hit the ground. As the tail hits the ground, your front foot should be jumping in the air and sliding your front foot towards the nose of the board. Sliding your front foot towards the front of the board will help level out the board while you are in the air. As you are in the air, pull your knees up along with the board to gain height.
STEP
4: After you are in the air make sure the
board is level and your feet are close to the front and back bolts. Come
down smoothly and suck up the impact with your knees...Make sure to bend
them! Ride away and tell all your friends about it.
