Andre the Giant, born Andre Rene Roussimoff, lived up to his nickname. This giant of Grenoble, France made his pro debut in 1964. The original "People's Champion", Andre had roles in several TV shows and movies including "Six Million Dollar Man" (1974), Conan the Destroyer (1984) and he played Fezzik, the gentle giant in The Princess Bride (1987). Andre wrestled Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania III on March 29, 1987 before a record crowd of 93,173 in the Pontiac Silverdome. Andre Roussimoff died of a heart attack in January 1993, but his legend lives on.
