After four rounds were in the books, two teams edged out the competition to forge a one point lead.  Walthall and Cagle are tied with the "Buzzsaw" with fourteen points.  Walthall and Cagle reached the plateau by beating four points out of "Bushwick" Bill and "Chuck" Norris Wilson.  Meanwhile, the "Buzzsaw" stole four from "Pumphouse" Pete and "Back-nine" Bobby.  These two teams may have an opportunity to face each other on position night if they can hold off the "Pumphouse" and "Smoke" next week.

Early Leaders Drop Two!

Most everyone thought that Don "Hawkeye" West and Glen "gotta" Holt "of one", otherwise known as the "Final Answer", would tear through Steele and Bowles like Tyson through an ear lobe.  Everyone but Steele and Bowles.  The combined handicap of seven for the "Final Answer" didn't intimidate at all.  After losing the first hole, Steele and Tata won the next four, helped in part by a snowman by Hawkeye on number two.  The split dropped the "Final Answer" into a tie for second.

Hinkle Bell Beats Odds.

Phil Hinkle "Bell" had a lot going against him before he even teed off Tuesday.  First of all, he was facing Chigger, the first man to ever win a point from Hinkle.  Second, he was matching cards against "Bushwick" Bill and "Chuck" Norris Wilson for last weeks points.  Third, he was playing without his partner and his eight strokes.  Finally, Hinkle's not that good in the first place.  Despite it all, Hinkle was able to split with Chigger and Kanode for two points and sweep four from Bill and Norris to move only three points behind the leaders.  Kenny Kanode "better" had a good day, winning three holes on his own ball.

"Steam" lets loose!

Already upset by a poor round, the "Steamroller" had a run in with Chigger in the parking lot.  The argument stemmed from an altercation that had taken place earlier in the day over a lost ball.  As far as the match went, Steamroller didn't fare too well there either.  Mitch Hodge and Pat Shawver took all four points and are only two points out of the lead.

 "See-Saw's" though "Mean Machine"

The popular concensus on how to beat Chuck McKeag "of beer" and "Uncle" Leo DeMonte is to split them up.  Don't allow them to "ding-dong".  Well, scrap that idea!  McKeag took on "Mean" Dean Shelton and Melvin "Head" Hunter by himself and shot a 35, taking all four points.  That left Melvin and Dean with only one point through four matches.  Go figure!

Rookies Tied For Second

Rookies Erik "Foot long" Frank and "Peeping" Tom Kegley took four points from Charlie "Hot" Coles and Chuck B.  to move into a tie for second. The team they are tied with is also a new team, West and Holt.  These two teams may meet for the second time on position night.  West and Holt took three the first meeting.

 Same-ole Same-ole!

Ralph "Ghost" Reider and Bill Ramsey always seem to save a little something extra for Herman "Lace and" Leatherman and "Money" Callahan.  Reider and Ramsey have won 12 consecutive points from Leathermand and Callahan.  Reider and Ramsey also matched cards with Coles and Bondurant for last week and won another four points.

Benny "the Kid" Fain

Unsolved Mysteries is asking the CHGL to help solve the case of the missing golf ball . The incident happened on May 2nd, 2000 . It was a warm day on the golf course ; the first nice day since league play has begun . (Steam Roller ) better known as Hill McDaniel & his life long golf partner Wes Farris were in a hot battle against return rival Pat Shawver & his new partner Mitch Hodge . Not much is known about the events that took place on hole #1 . Sources say that Hill McDaniel lost his ball & suffered a penalty. Later in the evening two teams were approached by McDaniel as they came up the # 6 fair way. The three players were investigated & suspected of stealing the golf ball. Now the situation becomes a mystery as the three players stand on the # 6 fairway startled & baffled . Did someone steal the damn golf ball or did it take cover & hide for fear of the brutal & dreadful beating that it took on the #1 tee box . Some speculate that maybe Shawver or Hodge hired someone to kidnap the ball so they could give penalty strokes to McDaniel . Sources report that McDaniel slandered the three players who were playing in front of them for taking the ball hostage. Imagine that.!!!! Anyway if you witnessed or have any information about this incident that took place at Cedar Hills Golf course please contact your CHGL league commissioner or someone who gives a damn about Hill McDaniels golf ball .

Rule15.  Wrong Ball; Substituted Ball
Definition:  A "wrong ball" is any ball other that the player's:
a.  Ball in play,
b. Provisional ball or
c. Second ball played
15-1. General
A player must hole out with the ball played from the  teeing gournd unless a Rule permits him to substitute another ball.  If a player substitutes another ball when not so permitted, that ball in not a  wrong ball, it becomes the ball in play  and, if the error is not corrected as provided in Rule 20-6, the player shall incur a penalty of loss of hole in match play or two strokes in stroke play (and risk taking an ass whoopin).

Chigger played Steamroller's ball.  Steamroller played Tata's ball.  Hinkle played Chiggers ball.  I'm not sure exactally how it went down, but, for the love of golf, look at the ball before you hit it.
