History

I'm sure many people will remember the exciting young team of the Rockers. They were a very high flying fast moving team and a great fan favorite. The team consisted of 2 young men: Marty Jenety (now in WCW) and of course Shawn Michaels. Every thought that they were destined to be champions and I think if I remember correctly they were at one point, but then it all fell apart one night at the barbershop. Tension had been growing for weeks with the Rockers on an awful losing streak. A defeat at the hands of The Nasty Boys (who I think would make great members of DX) was the last straw for Shawn's growing ego.

For those of you who can't remember or don't know the Barbershop was a set in the arena from which Brutus the Barber Beefcake (now called The Disciple and in WCW) preformed interviews from. Paul Bearer and Brother Love had a similar set up. Anyway, as I remember it Shawn was out talking to Beefcake when he asked Marty to come out and join him. Shawn explained he had been annoyed at losing but now was over it and he and Marty started to celebrate their new bond.

As Shawn raised Marty's hand in celebration he hit him in the stomach we a fist. Marty went down and Shawn continued to beat him. I'm not sure if a chair was involved in the beating. Shawn then picked up Jannety and then in one of wrestlings most memorable moments through him through the plate glass window of the barbershop.

A New Man

Shawn was transformed and with Sensational Sherri at his side he soon rose to fame. Janetty on the over hand faded into the darkness only to wrestle about 3 singles matches in a black with small strips set of tights. Marty was unimpressive in these matches and was soon forgotten by everyone except my mum who thought he was lovely. Shawn went on to win the Royal Rumble but I'm not sure if it was that year.

I just thought I would add that when Shawn went into singles competition his original finishing hold was not Sweet Chin Music. He used this kick which was then called a "side presont kick" just before his finisher which was a back suplex. He delivered this move by linking his hands between his opponent's legs and lifting and falling back. I haven't seen anyone use this move since.
