RKBA in the UK!
If you haven't had any experience with firearms in the past, you've probably got a built-in fear of them caused by a combination of ignorance and a lifetime of exposure to the media's constant anti-gun propaganda. The thing you've got to remember is that a gun is just a tool - it's no more sinister than a knife, a baseball bat or a canister of Zyklon B. All of those things have got both good and evil uses, it just depends on the character of the owner. A frequently used analogy is cars. If I'm driving, a car is a perfectly safe and sensible way of getting from A to B. If my brother's driving, it's a death machine! It all comes down to the individual, and most people are capable of being sensible and making their own choices. The political establishment want you to think that ordinary people are too stupid, unstable or just plain nasty to trust with firearms. But if they don't trust you with a .22 pistol how can you trust them with the weapons they've got? The British government's got it's own fleet of nuclear missile submarines, and Tony Blair's definitely got violent tendencies - if you don't believe me, ask anyone still living in Yugoslavia. Personally, I'm much more willing to trust you with an Uzi - we may never have met, but the odds are you're just as peaceful as the overwhelming majority of the population. You're not going to instantly become a homicidal maniac just because you've got a gun in your hands.
