The Coach

MANUEL LAPUENTE has taken charge of the Mexican national team for the second time and will be looking for an improvement on their second round performance in USA '94.  Lapuente, 53, took over from Bora Milutinovic who was sacked following a string of disappointing performances, even though he guided Mexico into the finals.  Before that, the portly Lapuente was coaching Mexico City-based Necaxa.  He has had success at domestic level, having won the Mexican title four times with Necaxa and Puebla, but only had minimal success in his first spell as Mexico boss in 1992, lasting just 12 months in the job.
