The
Coach
World Cup-winning coach CARLOS
ALBERTO PARREIRA of Brazil is the latest coach to lead the oil-rich
nation in their second appearance in the final rounds. He took charge
of the squad in January this year. Parreira who led Brazil to victory
in 1994 World Cup replaces stand-in German coach Otto Pfister who was appointed
in October last year after Portuguese manager Tigo Vigada was fired.
Vigada was the seventh Saudi coach to lose his job in the past three years.
Apart from Brazil, Parreira, 54, has coached Kuwait's national team as
well as clubs in Spain, Tirkey and the Unietd States. He also took
charge of the Rest of the World team against Europe, coached by Franz Beckenbauer,
played in Marseille, France, in conjunction with the World Cup draw held
there. The Ronaldo-led World XI streamrolled the European XI.
