Anna began playing tennis at the age of 5 with friends in a children's sports program. In February of 1992 she moved to the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida, to be with her coach, Nick Bollettieri. She was very successful while in junior competition. She ended 1995 as the ITF Junior World Champion ranked No.1. She won the Orange Bowl 18's, the 1995 European Championships, and the 1995 Italian Open Juniors. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
She was a 1995 Wimb;edon Juniors Semi-Finalist, and a 1995 | French Open Juniors Quarter Finalist. As a qualifier, she won her first profssional title at a 1996 ITF Women's Circuit satellite event in Midland, Michigan, USA, where she collected wins over Julie Steven, Jana Nejedly, Rene Simpson, Tami Whitlinger-Jones and Lindsay Lee. Directly after she earned her second pro title at an ITF Women's Circuit satellite event in Rockford, Illinois, USA, where she collected wins against Sonya Jeyaseelan, Tara Snyder, and Yuka Yosida. Winning the tournament, she flew to Oklahoma City in time to win her first round qualifying match the same day. As the fifth seed, she earned her second pro title at an ITF Women's Circuit satellite event in Rockford, Illinois, USA, where she collected wins against Sonya Jeyaseelan, Tara Snyder, and Yuka Yosida.
