Gangsters

by Lindsay O'Brien

Okay just a word of warning before I start this. It is long and not quite finished yet, but it will be one day. Soon. Probably. Hopefully. Anyway I apologise to anybody I insult especially if they happen to be genuine gangsters.

Part one

Lissa Cianni sighed as she pulled yet another sheet of figures towards her. Her skills at bookkeeping were possibly the only reason her father kept her she thought wryly. Suddenly the door flew open and a huge dark haired man filled the doorway. Lissa opened her mouth to scream and in a flash the huge man was behind her, covering her mouth with his hand. A tall man appeared in the doorway and Lissa's heart skipped a beat as she recognised Christopher Marchessi, the youngest, and most attractive in her mind, of the notorious Marchessi brothers. 'Not that he'd ever look in my direction,' thought Lissa, 'and why am I thinking thoughts like that at a time like this!' Chris stood in front of the desk considering her with narrowed blue eyes. He punched the fat guy next to him.

"I thought you said she worked late on Wednesday nights Ralphus." Snarled Chris.

"I did. She does." Whined Ralphus, holding his arm, "I dunno what the broad is doing here on Thursday." Chris turned his head slowly and glared at Ralphus before walking round the desk. Leaning against it he gazed down at Lissa.

"That can't be comfortable hmm? If Dionico removes his hand, promise you won't scream." He said. Lissa nodded her head in agreement.

"Okay." Chris looked sharply at Dionico. "Okay Dionico move your hand." He repeated with a note of irritation in his voice. Dionico moved away and joined Ralphus in methodically searching the filing cabinets. They soon found what they were looking for.

"Ready boss." Growled Dionico from the doorway.

"Yep," replied Chris still staring at Lissa, "Guess you'll have to come with us."

"What!" exclaimed Lissa as she realised he was talking to her.

"Can't leave any witnesses and I don't particularly want to kill you," he told her, "Get your stuff." Realising she had no choice Lissa put on her hat and coat and gathered up her purse. Chris propelled her out of the office holding her by her upper arms. Lissa glanced down the darkened hallway. There was no sign of Ralphus or Dionico. Lissa kicked her foot back sharply, connecting with Chris's shin with a satisfying crack. She opened her mouth and screamed. Chris spun her round and kissed her long and hard on the mouth. Lissa completed the journey down to the car in a stunned silence.
