It's a thin line

Part six

Linzi was sitting in her room, the photo of her daughter propped up in front of her. Gently she stroked her finger down the glass.

"I won't let him hurt you as well," she whispered softly, "I won't let you know how he rejected us."

A thunderous knocking on her door disturbed her. She opened it slightly to see who it was. The door was thrust open as Billy shouldered his way in, kicking the door shut behind him. He grabbed her roughly by the arm, his eyes glittering in rage.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked hoarsely.

"Tell you what?" Linzi stalled for time, struggling to get out of his grip.

"About Emily." he replied. Billy spotted the photo on the table and tried to make his way over. Linzi stood in front of him trying to stop him getting to it. They grappled briefly before Billy over-powered her, throwing her onto the bed. He grabbed the photo and turned round to confront Linzi. She was lying motionless on the floor, blood trickling from the wound in her head. Billy grabbed the phone and dialed the reception.

"There's been an accident. Call 911 quickly."
