VERSUS

____This Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs go to battle against the New England Patriots. The Chiefs have played like a Super Bowl team at home, and there should be no reason why this game would be any different. In fact, given last year's complete embarassment at New England, it should give the Chiefs a spark to rise against the opposition.
____Rashaan Shehee has been given the start against the Patriots, and he has earned it. He rushed for more yards than any single team has so far this year against San Deigo, with a near 4.0 yard per carry average. He does not fit into Gunther's big back attack, however Bennett so far this year has worked well with it. This does go to show that even though Gunther has his ideas about players in certain positions, he is willing to give the job to the best man. Against New England, look for Shehee to get 20-25 carries with Bennett picking up another 10-15. Also, we will most likely continue to see an increase in the playing time of Joe Horn and Kevin Lockett. While Rison is still the starter by name, the balls have been going their way in more crucial situations.
____Now looking at the league this year there should be absolutely no reason why Kansas City is not 4-0. The defense has been making a killing, the running game is back to its old ways of being one of the best in the league, and we have a receiver/tight end group who can stack up to almost anyone. Yet we sit at 2-2. Grbac has shown the ability of a pro-bowl QB when the presure is not on him. Yet in both Chicago and San Deigo, he failed at effectively moving the ball when we needed to get points. At home against New England, he'll probably put up some good numbers again, however if this team hopes to get anything done in the post season, he is going to have to improve his decision making in crunch time or be replaced.
____The defense is going to show up against New England, and the running game will be there. How we do hinges on Grbac. Will he have a game like last week where he comes out strong and then screws it up? Will he play as well as he did against the Broncos and Lions? Or will he crumble from the boos (because they will be there) and completely fail this team? The way things are going in this league right now, anything is possible, however unless Grbac picks his game up, the playoffs may not be probable.
